Pumped Up Kicks

Beauty can be found in everything. Last week, I found beauty in the sunset. This may sound crazy, but I have never really appreciated the radiance the Sun gives until this day. There is something so beautiful about mornings and something so marvelous about night. It is like two different worlds: dark and light. Sometimes the light from the Sun can guide you to your destination and sometimes it can blind you from where you ought to be going. The moon is the same way; the beam of light from the moon can help you see while its dark can also hide you. Life can be compared to the light of the sun and the moon. There will be days, seasons, and even years where something or someone will be blinding you from your destination. It is not until you get to the contrasting side to see where you should be headed. Some people are misguided by the sun and can only see with the help of the night and vise versa.
Okay, that was your little inspiration for the week. Let's talk fashion. I really need to find this dress in every single color but at the time I purchased it, I didn't realize how versatile it was. I can make it casual by throwing a jean vest or flannel over it or I can dress it up with a fur vest. It's pieces like this simple dress that need to be invested in because it lasts for years and something so basic will never go out of style. I got this little number from shophopes.com but you can find a dress like this anywhere!

Also, let me know if you would lake a hair tutorial by emailing me or commenting on instagram because I am kinda loving this look ;)

Flannel Fever

After going on a little shopping trip this weekend, I suddenly became ten times more excited for cooler weather. I stocked up on some fall basics including button downs, jeans, and structured skirts. I am so excited to start pairing them with boots and scarves! It was definitely a little chilly today so I tucked this warm flannel from J. Crew Factory into a white pencil skirt. I know what you're thinking... white after labor day?! It works you guys, I promise. Let's just call it "winter white". I love a nice pair of ankle booties with skirts in the fall since it's not exactly cold enough to wear tall boots yet (the time will come though). I also really like how my grey Kendra Scott earrings and this Sara Bella Necklace from Nordstrom compliment the outfit so well. However, I can't wait to switch out my jewelry for a fur scarf!

Hats Galore

The one thing I have enjoyed the most about fall this year is wearing hats.... every. single. day. I cannot take them off. The one I am wearing, I bought from Nordstrom last year and I am obsessed with it. I swear as soon as I put on one of my hats I instantly feel put together. The great thing is that fall and winter hats come in seriously every color and style imaginable. From beanies to floppy hats, there is a suitable style for everyone's taste. I also felt like throwing on this hat toned down my super rocker outfit. I am also loving my combat boots. These are my everyday boots from November until February. I always look forward wearing them each year! I experimented today with throwing on a flannel over a graphic tee and I LOVE this look. It is seriously the perfect touch and especially helpful with the unpredictable weather of the South since I can just pull off the flannel when the weather is warmer some days.

I went to Charlotte over the weekend and scored
some great deals due to Columbus Day sales.
Make sure to shop these stores before the sales end!

Oxymoron

Happy October 1st! I know, I know... the outfit is a little on the spring side for fall but I decided to wear one last bright dress before I trade out sundresses for sweaters for the next couple months. I scored this dress in Dallas for $15 the other weekend. The dress is from Apricot Lane Boutique and thankfully they have an online store where you can shop. I also bought this light denim jacket that I have wanted so badly. I figured that it would be perfect for those cool, autumn nights in the South and it was definitely appreciated last night! I love the light-wash color because it helps to brighten a dark colored outfit in the colder months. Now, converse are seriously my go-to on a daily basis. If I can't choose between black or brown boots, then I will opt for my converse. Also, they are just so darn comfortable and since I am always wanting to dress up, they make my overdressed outfits much more casual. I can already see my fall uniform consisting of oversized sweaters, chunky scarves, jeggings, and converse.

The September Issue

Mondays suck, right? Well I am going to make your Monday much better by giving you a little pick me up and motivation.

1. There is nothing I love more than being inspired to be a better person. Nobody makes me more inspired than Anna Wintour. This lady is such a fierce, hard-working woman who I admire so much. I have literally watched this video 9320841 billion times. Seriously, go watch it and your day will brighten up immediately.

2. So I ordered three dresses from sheinside.com about a week ago for under $60. Now if you ask me, that is seriously such a great deal. My only complaint is that it ships from China so it is taking a long time to arrive. I suggest you guys check it out and take advantage of their super, inexpensive prices! They really do have some great, affordable pieces for autumn and winter, plus I have heard great reviews!

3. Often times in the fall, life can get pretty stressful. Between social events on weekend and school work during the week, your body can become burdened pretty easily. Wanna know my fix? Jesus. Sometimes you need to find a quiet, little escape such as a coffee shop or a place by the river and just go sit and enjoy God's word. Any free time you get within the next couple weeks, I recommend finding
that personal place to relax with God.

4. Have I mentioned that I am obsessed with Lauren Conrad? Oh because by the way, I totally am. She was recently wed to William Tell and her wedding spread was released in Us Weekly. Look how perfect they are!

Happy Monday and have a wonderful week!
Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is those who take refuge in him.

Fall Vibes

It's almost that time of year for cooler weather (okay not really...it is still a sauna in Georgia for the most part), Starbucks pumpkin spice lattes, and FALL FASHION!!! I don't know about you but I love getting all dressed up in the winter. Something about layering with scarves and putting on a cozy sweater in the mornings gets me so excited, not to mention that cooler weather means the holidays are right around the corner... crazy right?! One thing I have loved about July and early August is the Nordstrom sale. Not only are you getting amazing prices for new fall trends, but also getting a sneak peek of what will be popular for this season. I picked out a few of my favorite pieces that I really hope I can purchase throughout the next couple of months!

R O M P E R | Okay, I know I might talk about the weather down South a lot but you really will never understand unless you live here! There will be days where it is still 80 degrees in October and that is no fun when all you want to wear is scarves and boots. Therefore, this romper is a wonderful alternative when you are wanting to dress in fall colors but still want to breath. I for sure will be purchasing this little number from Target to wear on days when it is scorching outside but I don't want to look like a crazy person by wearing shorts and sandals in October.

S L I P - O N S | These shoes are a huge trend for fall. I have seen camo, leopard, and leather prints from multiple stores! Such an easy shoe to pair with anything and are guarenteed to be comfortable. Now that I think about it, a slip-on will be perfect for shopping days when it gets cooler so when you try on clothes you aren't constantly having to pull off those bulky pair of boots! The style pictured is from Steve Madden, however I found an identical pair for one-third the price from Forever 21.

P H O N E  C A S E | I am trying to hold off on buying a new phone case because my contract is up and I am patiently waiting to grab the iPhone 6!! That doesn't mean I can't at least lust over some.. right?? Well I saw this super cute one from Kate Spade and I am loving the clear case with gold design!

S T A T E M E N T  E A R R I N G S | Necklaces can be a pain in the fall because they get in the way of scarves... that being said earrings are not out of the picture! Kendra Scott came out with some GORGEOUS fall colors that I was fortunate enough to get my hands on during the Nordstrom sale. I picked up these slate-colored beauties and I am obsessed.

G O L D  C U F F | I bought a similar cuff like the one pictured from Forever 21 in July and I have worn it so much. The cuff replaces layering bracelets and its simplicity may fool you but I promise it is so chic. I have received numerous compliments from people when I wear mine. Make sure to snag this one from Vince Camuto.

C L A S S I C  R I D I N G  B O O T S | If there is one thing I can guarantee you, it is that boots are always a must-have for fall. Sometimes it is best to invest in a high quality pair versus a pair for $30. There are always great places with a variety of styles such as Bloomingdale's, Nordstrom, and Macy's. I am craving these from Tory Burch. Maybe I'll get a pair for Christmas!

L E A T H E R  S A T C H E L | I recently purchased a beautiful Michael Kors satchel for fall and I am in love. It holds literally everything and I like the option to carry it as a cross body or in the crook of my arm. I found some at Nordstrom that I am dying over, including this Rebecca Minkoff and this Tory Burch.

I hope this gave you guys some inspiration for what to buy this fall. With Christmas right around the corner, it's not too early to start your wish list!

Boulevarding

Yesterday I went tailgating on The Boulevard at Southern Methodist University. I had so much fun, however, SMU was SMUshed by Texas A&M. The weather was pretty nice other than the fact that the stadium was in the direct sunlight with no shade. I am pretty sure half the student section left by the end of the first quarter. Overall, it was a great day and I enjoyed people watching and admiring everybody’s cute game day outfits. Yeah, by the way apparently it was a white out and I did not get the memo… the bright red boots did not assist me at all (try not to laugh too much).

If you are looking for a college, seriously look into Southern Methodist University! I feel like it is a hidden little secret that many people do not know about. The campus is absolutely gorgeous, the students are so friendly, and with the location in the middle of downtown Dallas it is for sure upbeat! There is so much to do in the city and always a game or event going on.
