christmas shopping

It feels like years since I last posted... okay maybe two weeks! Good news though, I am on Christmas break at last! I could not be more excited to spend this time with friends and working on my blog. Today, I went to the mall and did a little last minute shopping to grab some gifts for my parents. Surprisingly, I didn't have to fight many crowds. I chose an easy, casual outfit to wear that would make trying on clothes a breeze (except it didn't because these boots are a hassle to pull on and off). These boots are my new favorites from Free People. They have a lace up back and gorgeous ombre detail at the toe. I'm also loving my hooded cardigan from Target because who doesn't like a hood?! Make sure to click the links below to see wear everything is from :).

laid back vibe

It's finally the time of year for Christmas cheer! haha don't you just love my rhyming? Seriously though, I am so excited for the holidays coming up. I have about 2 more weeks left of school and then I will be on break at last.. hello Netflix. Recently, I've been loving the casual and cozy look. Even though the weather isn't too cold, I enjoy layering jackets and pulling on some boots. I bought these boots from Target on Black Friday and I am obsessed! Since I am not tall, I try to go for shorter boots. These pair made a perfect addition to my collection. :)
p.s. how cute are these bike shop decorations?!

Indiana Jones

I have decided that fall is my favorite season. The chilly temperatures, the crisp air, and the colors of the season draw me in. Everyone should always have those go to classic pieces to throw on in the morning. Today, mine consisted of a blazer, jeans, and my favorite fall shirt - a chambray button down. These staples effortlessly complement each other and complete an outfit in no time. I love to add some accessories such as a scarf and a hat to finish off the look. Once again, my love for hats this season has controlled this outfit. Sometimes, layering can become pretty uncomfortable if the scarf becomes constraining or the jacket becomes too thick. This ensemble was absolutely perfect and will definitely be worn many more times until the brutal days of winter fall upon us.

Flannel Fever

After going on a little shopping trip this weekend, I suddenly became ten times more excited for cooler weather. I stocked up on some fall basics including button downs, jeans, and structured skirts. I am so excited to start pairing them with boots and scarves! It was definitely a little chilly today so I tucked this warm flannel from J. Crew Factory into a white pencil skirt. I know what you're thinking... white after labor day?! It works you guys, I promise. Let's just call it "winter white". I love a nice pair of ankle booties with skirts in the fall since it's not exactly cold enough to wear tall boots yet (the time will come though). I also really like how my grey Kendra Scott earrings and this Sara Bella Necklace from Nordstrom compliment the outfit so well. However, I can't wait to switch out my jewelry for a fur scarf!

Hats Galore

The one thing I have enjoyed the most about fall this year is wearing hats.... every. single. day. I cannot take them off. The one I am wearing, I bought from Nordstrom last year and I am obsessed with it. I swear as soon as I put on one of my hats I instantly feel put together. The great thing is that fall and winter hats come in seriously every color and style imaginable. From beanies to floppy hats, there is a suitable style for everyone's taste. I also felt like throwing on this hat toned down my super rocker outfit. I am also loving my combat boots. These are my everyday boots from November until February. I always look forward wearing them each year! I experimented today with throwing on a flannel over a graphic tee and I LOVE this look. It is seriously the perfect touch and especially helpful with the unpredictable weather of the South since I can just pull off the flannel when the weather is warmer some days.

I went to Charlotte over the weekend and scored
some great deals due to Columbus Day sales.

Oxymoron

Happy October 1st! I know, I know... the outfit is a little on the spring side for fall but I decided to wear one last bright dress before I trade out sundresses for sweaters for the next couple months. I scored this dress in Dallas for $15 the other weekend. The dress is from Apricot Lane Boutique and thankfully they have an online store where you can shop. I also bought this light denim jacket that I have wanted so badly. I figured that it would be perfect for those cool, autumn nights in the South and it was definitely appreciated last night! I love the light-wash color because it helps to brighten a dark colored outfit in the colder months. Now, converse are seriously my go-to on a daily basis. If I can't choose between black or brown boots, then I will opt for my converse. Also, they are just so darn comfortable and since I am always wanting to dress up, they make my overdressed outfits much more casual. I can already see my fall uniform consisting of oversized sweaters, chunky scarves, jeggings, and converse.
