polar vortex

Two words: 'Tis cold. Actually, it is so cold that I had to choose a location indoors to shoot these pics because I couldn't bear to be outside without a jacket. Yes, I know I am slacking. I haven't been the best blogger for the past two weeks but I am hoping to get back on it soon. On a better note, the holidays are right around the corner and I could not be more excited. I need a break from school and there is nothing better than spending time at home with family and yummy food (and catching up with my tv shows via netflix). I have some exciting projects in the works for 2015 and I cannot wait to share with you guys. As the year comes closer to an end, I keep thinking about how amazing 2015 will be.

autumn weddings

Recently, I went to my cousin's wedding and I had so much fun! The wedding was a country chic theme and it was darling. The venue was a rustic barn, which fit the theme perfectly. I enjoyed snapping a few photos outside the barn before the wedding started. Okay, so I know I probably shouldn't have worn black to a wedding but 1. it was a fall wedding aka wear dark colors and 2. I wore colorful tights to make up for it :) :) :) I literally just threw this outfit together while packing for the wedding and I couldn't be happier with the result. I like the edgy look of the shoes mixed with the more feminine pearl and lace details. Every girl needs the perfect little black dress and I purchased mine from sheinside.com

Pumped Up Kicks

Beauty can be found in everything. Last week, I found beauty in the sunset. This may sound crazy, but I have never really appreciated the radiance the Sun gives until this day. There is something so beautiful about mornings and something so marvelous about night. It is like two different worlds: dark and light. Sometimes the light from the Sun can guide you to your destination and sometimes it can blind you from where you ought to be going. The moon is the same way; the beam of light from the moon can help you see while its dark can also hide you. Life can be compared to the light of the sun and the moon. There will be days, seasons, and even years where something or someone will be blinding you from your destination. It is not until you get to the contrasting side to see where you should be headed. Some people are misguided by the sun and can only see with the help of the night and vise versa.
Okay, that was your little inspiration for the week. Let's talk fashion. I really need to find this dress in every single color but at the time I purchased it, I didn't realize how versatile it was. I can make it casual by throwing a jean vest or flannel over it or I can dress it up with a fur vest. It's pieces like this simple dress that need to be invested in because it lasts for years and something so basic will never go out of style. I got this little number from shophopes.com but you can find a dress like this anywhere!

Also, let me know if you would lake a hair tutorial by emailing me or commenting on instagram because I am kinda loving this look ;)

Indiana Jones

I have decided that fall is my favorite season. The chilly temperatures, the crisp air, and the colors of the season draw me in. Everyone should always have those go to classic pieces to throw on in the morning. Today, mine consisted of a blazer, jeans, and my favorite fall shirt - a chambray button down. These staples effortlessly complement each other and complete an outfit in no time. I love to add some accessories such as a scarf and a hat to finish off the look. Once again, my love for hats this season has controlled this outfit. Sometimes, layering can become pretty uncomfortable if the scarf becomes constraining or the jacket becomes too thick. This ensemble was absolutely perfect and will definitely be worn many more times until the brutal days of winter fall upon us.

The Shoes and the Sunset

This post is a little unique considering these photos were taken at dusk! The shots turned out pretty cool but I definitely prefer my lighting in the daytime for outfit posts. Anyways, remember how a couple posts back I mentioned sheinside.com? Yeah, well after about 2-3 weeks my order finally arrived in the mail! I don't want to be all negative but I was kind of bummed when I opened the package. The website is definitely a hit or miss. One of the dresses I ordered looked nothing like it was pictured online so that was a disappointment. Another dress I ordered looks a little too big, but I can make it work. The dress I'm wearing was by far the best out of the three I ordered and I'm obsessed! The striped pattern with faux leather pockets screams fall and the dress makes it a great transitional piece during this mix of warm and cool weather. Can it just stay 60 degrees already? Also, can I rave about these wedges? I am in love with these Mia Gem Sandals! They are seriously the most gorgeous wedges I have ever owned and the dark tan looks great in the fall.

Cowboy Take Me Away

Serena Van Der Woodsen’s empire was New York, so why can’t mine be Dallas?  Someday I will be there you guys, someday. As of now, I am just going to enjoy the pieces and bits of beauty in Dallas that I am fortunate enough to experience. My hotel had a rooftop pool and a view that overlooked Dallas’s stunning skyline. It was honestly breathtaking and I wanted to sit and stare for ages. I have been getting a lot of comments on this dress and I think you will be shocked when I tell you where I bought it from... Marshall's! It was less than $20 and I think that makes me love it even more! If you can't tell, my hair is big. Really big. How can you be in Texas though without having huge hair? I went to this cute restaurant called The Rustic. Apparently, it's a big deal there. They have a backyard set up with picnic tables and lights and a band that plays. It was so cool! I finally caved and bought Jacks the other day because I found this brown and gold combination that I have never seen before. I love them! I also thought my longhorn necklace was appropriate for the occasion. ;)
