announcement + update

I'M MOVING!!!!!
Except probably not in the way you think I mean... let's just say State of Greyce will be receiving a makeover as well as its own domain name. This means that my web address will no longer be stateofgreyce.blogspot.com but instead it will be stateofgreyce.com. I am giving you guys a heads up before you think I have stopped blogging on this site. As soon as the website is launched, I will post an announcement and let you guys know. For now, I am planning to launch the new website on February 1.

I am so excited to finally announce this because I have big plans for my new site including (hopefully) posts every single day. My posts will range from fashion to beauty to travel and I am looking to include some video content such as hair and makeup tutorials. Look out for upcoming content!

Okay now a little update.. This week has been CHAOS. I really wish I could explain everything but things have been so busy lately and I am anticipating for my life to only get crazier in the next few months as I approach graduation in May (ya, still don't know what college I am going to so that's great). I was looking at my calendar the other day and I seriously have no free weekends until the end of February... But hey, I am not complaining because I enjoy keeping busy!

I swear every month there is always an event I look forward to. January/February is the time for award shows!!! aka my guilty pleasure. Currently, I have been trying to watch all the Oscar movie nominations so when the Oscars come around I can justify whether the winning movies deserve their awards or not... I am putting all my votes in for American Sniper, Wild, and The Grand Budapest Hotel. Stop your life and go watch those NOW.

I recently dyed my hair to where I have dark brown roots and blonde at the end kinda like ombre. I enjoy the change however I wished the blonde in my hair was a little lighter. I have also been bad at recording my outfits so I am hoping to just have like a stockpile day soon so I can post more often. Here are some outfits I have been wearing recently though.

rainy days

Honestly, I have been dreaming of sunny skies and spring time the past few days. While I love cold weather, I really do not enjoy rain on top of it! After returning from Christmas break, it took me a little bit to get back into the swing of things. I am finally getting a schedule down considering my days are pretty open since I am taking online classes in place of real ones. I enjoy my extra free time but I haven't been putting it to good use (guilty!).. Anyways, I have been trying to tone down my style lately and keep it simple. You know, the every day pieces that you can effortlessly reach for when you are getting ready! These jeans from J. Brand have definitely become an essential of mine.

p.s. you can now receive emails of all the clothing items (or similar ones) in my outfit of the days on instagram by liking my photos! make sure you sign up at www.shopstyle.it to receive these emails. and follow me on instagram @stateofgreyce

exploring

The other day I went exploring around town with my best friend. We were looking at a few locations which would make perfect backdrops for photos. We stopped at one of our favorite cafes for coffee and chitchat. The weather was gorgeous with a warm sun but crisp, cool temperatures (my favorite). I've been loving my new camera bag from Jo Totes. I have received so many compliments on the Italian leather and people gasp once I inform them it is my camera bag. I also scored big on these denim pants the other day when I hit up Urban Outfitters's fifty-percent off sale... my kind of shopping.

cold weather essentials

Along with cooler weather comes the warmer outfits chosen over stylish ones. I am definitely a victim of this as I would much rather grab for a sweatshirt than a nice peacoat. However, I have chosen a few essentials that can brighten up any outfit while we endure this colder weather for a little bit longer! Click the highlighted links below the picture to see where everything is from. Also, check out myfioreboutique.com for the boot socks and scarf and make sure to use the coupon code JESSICAJREP for 10% off your purchase.
BEANIE // This toboggan is one of my favorites. The rich, cream color complements any hair tone and will for sure be keeping heads warm. Oh and the best part is this beanie is only $15!!!
BOOT SOCKS // Boot cuffs are perfect for keeping the area right around your knee warm. Not to mention, these make for the perfect accessory with the lace trim peeking out of the top of the boots. Grab these for $10 at myfioreboutique.com. Use code JESSICAJREP at checkout for 10% off your entire purchase.
MONOGRAM MUG // I am in love with these mugs from Anthropologie. I have been making black tea every day and sipping it out of these. Enjoy these with your morning coffee in attempt to wake up and stay warm!
A GOOD READ // Can I take a moment to rave about Gone Girl? Okay, the book had an extreme (but creative) plot twist, however, the ending was questionable for me. Although, I still plan to see the movie. My advice to you is to grab a book and stay warm by the fire on weekends. Nothing I love more than a little rest time after a long week!
TARTAN SCARF // I have seen many bloggers wearing this scarf in their outfit posts. While I love blanket scarves, I become frustrated when tying them. Thankfully, Fiore Boutique has the infinity scarf version so you do not have to worry about tying it! Check it out here and use code JESSICAJREP for 10% off!

*Thank you to Fiore Boutique for the opportunity of working with me.

a new year, a new beginning

Happy New Year! I know, I know, I know.... why have a waited so long to post? I really wanted to post on January first. I really did. Instead, I took the first couple days of the new year to organize my thoughts and figure out what direction I wanted to take my blog. While I am still uncertain of all the new content I will be posting, I do have big ideas. First, let me tell you my resolutions. I am a big fan of the "clean slate" the new year has to offer, maybe it is because I accomplished all my goals I set for 2014.

Travel more // In 2014, I had the opportunity to travel to many new places. I am so grateful for those chances to explore. However, I have learned that I do not need a plane to discover new places. I am hoping to take advantage of the destinations surrounding me while also, hopefully, having the chance to travel abroad more.

Learn to cook // My family has never been huge on cooking and so I am hoping to teach myself how to cook gourmet meals (ya know, not just mac and cheese). Since I will be on my own this fall, it is a skill I need to learn before I leave home. Plus, maybe even some cooking recipes on the blog?! :)

Be positive // Many times I catch myself complaining and being so negative about situations. I want to work on spreading positive vibes not only in my everyday activities but also to other people. There is no reason for me to be negative because I have a wonderful God who takes of all my needs.

So those are just a few of my many resolutions. I mean, there are always things you can work on to make yourself a better person, right? Anyways, I went to Columbia for a shopping trip and I fell in love with the city. I know it is similar to Augusta but it has some of my favorite stores and some really neat restaurants. I had no idea what to wear this day until I received a text from my friend saying "wear a tee, skirt, and black tights". Boom... this is what I came up with from that description.

loves of 2014

I had this idea to create a collage filled with an assortment of things I loved during 2014. I feel like it would be fun to look back in the future and see the clothing I wore or what music I listened to. Overall, 2014 was a pretty good year for me. I started to chase my dreams by creating this blog and I had the opportunity to travel to some pretty cool places. However, I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store because there will be huge life changes for me including going off to college! I also have a lot I want to accomplish blogging wise for the next year so stay tuned for new posts. :)
Fashion | This year was probably the most revolutionary for me fashion wise because I learned to invest in simple pieces. During the spring and summer, I wore high waisted shorts with everything. As the weather cooled down, I started wearing tons of hats and splurged on these Free People boots that I am obsessed with.

Quotes | I spent a lot of my free time this year browsing Pinterest for inspiration. I always came across the most meaningful quotes which hit me hard. There is just something so uplifting about people's words and I have fallen in love with their writings. If you don't follow me on Pinterest, you can by clicking here

Music | Music is definitely my life, however; very rarely will I buy an entire album on iTunes. Therefore, the album has to be somewhat decent if I am willing to invest in the whole thing. These three artist have made the top of my list this year with their new releases: Taylor Swift, Foster the People, and Hozier. Be sure to check them out if you are looking for some new music.
